Fish farming is a growing industry in Iceland. In 2019, Iceland was the number one producer in Europe of farming charr and in 5th place among European countries that produce the most of farmed salmon. It is expected that the industry will continue to grow the next years, and the export of aquaculture products as well. The fish is largely exported to the United States, the Netherlands, Denmark, United Kingdom, Poland, France and Canada.

Currently there are three cargo operators with scheduled traffic to and from Keflavik Airport, Bluebird DHL and Icelandair Cargo. Keflavik Airport has been passenger oriented airport but is putting more emphasis on cargo than before, in line with improving the airport‘s strategy and infrastructure for cargo.
