New Taxiway Designations at Reykjavik City Airport
The updated designations follow alphabetical order, using the letters G, H, J, K, L, M, and R, arranged in a clockwise pattern around the airfield. This change aims to enhance clarity and safety for all those operating at or transiting through the airport.
One key change is that taxiways will no longer share the same designation on both sides of the runways. Additionally, holding point locations have been redefined.
The primary objective of this update is to reduce the risk of runway incursions by improving the ability of flight crews and air traffic controllers to clearly identify the location of aircraft and ground vehicles. A more structured layout and clearer location references will contribute to improved situational awareness and safer operations.
